Burbage’s tennis courts have been closed and locked to comply with HM Government instructions, and on the advice of the Lawn Tennis Association.
Membership Secretary, Andrew Gordon explained that, although there had appeared to be a possibility that playing singles tennis, or use of a court for a family group could be compatible with the PM’s earlier directives on social distancing and once-daily outdoor exercise, Government instructions issued late on March 23 require many premises, including “Sports Courts” to shut down. Andrew commented “throughout the wettest winter anyone remembers, and in spite of the sea of mud that used to be the cricket field and footpath, a dozen children from Burbage School have enjoyed tennis coaching almost every Wednesday afternoon. I really hoped some of them could play in family groups whilst school is closed”. All the best Andrew (01672) 810421 |
