Dear Reader, My name is Leah, I’ve lived in Burbage for nearly 3 years, and I have 2 children. I was asked to write an article for the Burbage News about the Happy Bags I am doing for local families. The idea for ‘Happy Bags’ came from wanting to spread a little happiness at such an unprecedented time for us all. Happy Bags are bags that are sent to the children of families who have been financially affected by covid-19. As the summer holidays approach, we all know how hard it is to try and occupy young children, never mind trying to put food on the table! I wanted to try and ease that burden where possible, and put smiles on some children’s faces. I have been working closely with Burbage Parish Council and many other professionals, to get these dispatched to the right families - those who need them the most.
I have also spoken with BBC Wiltshire, and Marlborough News. BBC Points West has also kindly offered to come down and do some filming with me, which is absolutely amazing! Also I would like to thank the people of Burbage and the surrounding villages for their amazing support and donations: I have been truly overwhelmed by the response. If you would like to donate something you can do so by checking out my Facebook Happy Bags page or by contacting Burbage Parish Council (telephone 01672 810853) who can point you in the right direction. Please help - I cannot wait to spread some happiness!!
